A peacock on the fridge...

...why didn't I think of that?! He looks like he is simultaneously guarding that brilliant turquoise fridge and overseeing the general kitchen-ly goings on. No kiddies would be game to pinch any treats off that cake plate without permission :) Ingenious styling by US designer Lizzie Carney. Quite apart from the peacock, the rest of her pad is pretty lovely too. The contrast of the dark walls, traditional fittings and bright accessories provides a dramatic, glamorous impact...

And more dressing room envy for me!

White and bright...

Something white and bright to kick off a week that will mark the start of spring here in the southern hemisphere! So many great elements in this standout kitchen - loving the great cabinetry, those subway tiles and pendant lights. The real feature is that gorgeous island bench though. Something so cosy and inviting about an island bench in a kitchen wouldn't you say?! And peonies are of course the ultimate styling accessory in any room :)

Weekend inspiration...

We are enjoying a spot of pre-springtime weather goodness in Melbourne at the moment and it is set to continue for the weekend - before we welcome back winter chills on Monday... Have an early trip to the market planned for the morning and then spending the rest of the weekend catching up with some favourite friends who we don't get to see nearly enough as they live a little way away. No doubt lots of food, drink and chatter! Hope you have some exciting plans and enjoy the weekend :)

This week's love...

...is the very cool new US online store Society Social. Specialising in bright and bold hand-crafted bar carts in every colour of the rainbow, along with a little range of furniture, Society Social is a really fresh and vibrant concept. Whilst the bar carts are the ultimate party accessory, they also double as a stylish piece of occasional furniture. I'd definitely recommend a browse through their 'Magalog' too. Will make you feel like Friday night cocktails (if you don't already!)...

Unfortunately they are not currently shipping to Australia (let's hope that changes!) but I'd still recommend you visit the site for a hit of colour and inspiration.

Office envy...

Gosh, imagine working here! I initially stumbled across some of these pics at Marcus Design (a fab blog if you haven't checked it out). The Coveteur have worked their magic on the LA offices of Who What Wear. Aren't these images divine?! If my office were this fine (and believe me, it's not), I think I would find it impossible to get anything done. I'd be too consumed by the beauty of my surrounds!

As well as the overall great design, these ladies are accessory queens. All the little finishing touches really add so much vibrancy and style. Definite inspiration for my home office :) Check out more pics at The Coveteur and Who What Wear.

Dreams and plans and books galore...

In what could be described as an indulgent conversation (given the many important things we could have been discussing!) one of my best girlfriend's and I were on the weekend pondering the mandatory essentials in our future dream homes. Whilst I had quite an elaborate set of imaginary plans, she had but one requirement. A huge library. You know the type - floor to ceiling shelves, sliding ladder, comfy big chair. She dreams of being able to swing from one side to the other on her trusty ladder. She's quite an adventurous lass so I can actually picture her doing just that! I think a combo of these would be to her liking...

I think this ladder height was what she had in mind!

She's also collecting all the Penguin Classics so is very easy to buy presents for!

It's so lovely to have those daydream-y conversations with your girlfriends over a cup of tea. I'd recommend it!

Tickled pink

I adore pink. Simple as that. Having said that, I know it's not everyone's favourite shade! However as these photos illustrate, a little bit of pink can go a long way - a lovely accent chair, a cute light fitting, a moroccan pouffe or simply a gorgeous bunch of flowers. It really can be the perfect accent colour especially against a white or neutral backdrop...

How good are those chairs?!

New England delight...

Traditional and modern styles are blended to perfection in this beautiful New England home. All the architectural details are superb - fantastic windows, wall panelling and all that joinery. I won't even start about the kitchen - divine! And whilst the majority of furniture is fairly traditional, the striped rug, chevron, suzani and geometric cushions add a bit of modern flair. The different colour palettes - yellow and grey, soft and indigo blues, bright orange for the outdoors - add some fun and freshness. Could easily be the set of a Nancy Meyers movie!

Weekend inspiration...

The sun is already shining here in Melbourne so looking forward to a fun weekend ahead! Tonight we are off to a cocktail party at one of my favourite restaurants. Excited about the fabulous food and the chance to wear a nice frock. There hasn't been much to get them out for since wedding season ended in March! It's so nice to get all dressed up for a night out. Hope you have a great weekend whatever you have on the agenda :)
